Obituary

Clarence Van Walker, age 79, passed away on September 4, 2022. He was brought into this world on June 27, 1943, the oldest of 11 children born to Lewis Van (LV) and Elizabeth (Rowland) Walker in Jena, Louisiana.

Clarence attended Goodpine High School in Jena where he played football. He was known for his toughness with a “gentle heart.” He relocated to Weed, California at the age of 20 and began working for International Paper Company, where he was employed until 1981. Shortly thereafter, he was hired at Roseburg Forest Products, where he remained until his retirement in 1997. After his retirement, you would find Clarence maintaining lawns in Weed and Mt. Shasta or socializing with friends and family.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Wanda Faye, Frankie Sue, and Judy; and two brothers, Joseph and Terry.

Clarence is survived by his partner, Ivon Robles Kelly; former wife, Wanda Walker; two daughters, Debra Walker (Eddie) and Nicole Walker (Ricky); five siblings, Willie (Fredi), Booker T., Gary, Elline “Chick,” and Avila “Peddie”; his grandson, Jecoree; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.

Clarence enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends and family, listening to music (blues), and watching the news on CNN. He was known for his barbecue and homemade sauce.

He will be greatly missed.
