Obituary

Kenneth Gennaro "Ken" DeMarco, 58, of Rawson, OH, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Bridge Hospice and Care Center, Findlay, OH. Kenneth was born on February 13, 1965 to John and Frances (Murray) DeMarco.

Ken married Lynn (Abts), on August 15, 1986, who survives. In addition to his wife, Lynn, Ken is survived by his father, John of Sylvania; his daughter, Zoe Rae DeMarco, of Rawson; two brothers, John (Elizabeth) DeMarco of Toledo, and Andy DeMarco, of Denver, Colorado; three sisters, Jennifer McGuckin (Brian Bugbee), of Maumee, Mary DeMarco-Kneller of Sylvania, and Angela (Andrew) Spurling, of Sylvania; and one grandaughter, Eva June Schoenlein. Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother, Frances, in 2009.

Ken attended Columbus State Community College to become an airplane mechanic and received flight training at Bolton Field, Columbus. He would eventually move up in the ranks and become a pilot for Marathon Petroleum Company where he had the privilege of touching down at every major and most minor airports in the continental United States.

Outside of work, Ken was an avid fan of physical fitness. He participated in many races including both a half and full marathons in Toledo and Columbus. He was a member of TriDot, Ironheart, Competitive Multi Sport, Blue 70, and the Findlay Area Running Team (F.A.R.T.). He found a love for cycling and triathlons and trained hard for four years before competing in his most epic triathlon, Escape from Alcatraz, in San Francisco California in June 2019 before completing his dream race, a full Iron Man, in Tempe, Arizona in November of 2021.

Ken loved wood working of any type, but especially wood turning which he had spent countless hours mastering. Ken shared a love of horses with his wife and daughter, Zoe, from 2001-2012 competing in many disciplines, and was a member of the United States Pony Club.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at COLDREN CRATES FUNERAL HOME, 205 West Sandusky Street, Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with burial at a later date at Tawa Cemetery.
