George William Lute March 22, 1925 - November 13, 2011
George William Lute, 86, of Port Matilda [PA], and formerly of Chester Hill [near Philipsburg, PA], died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1925 in Latrobe [PA], son of the late George Robb & Eliza Jane (Small) Lute. On May 28, 1948, in Washington, D.C., he married, Natalie A. (Foster) Lute, who passed away March 16, 1997.
He is survived by two daughters and one son, Melanie Axel-Lute and her husband Paul, of South Orange, NJ, Daniel G. Lute and his wife Ella, of Harrisburg and Lora Storck and her husband, Edwin, of Philipsburg; six grandchildren, Mariam Tell, Gregory Axel-Lute, Christopher D. Lute, Valerie J. Lute, Seth Storck and Tara Storck; two great grandchildren, Nadia Tell and Matthew Lute; two brothers, Walter H. Lute, of Latrobe and David J. Lute, of Woodstock, GA. In addition to his wife and parents, he was proceeded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Ernest and Hazel Kirk; and one brother, Charles E. Lute.
He was a graduate of Latrobe Area High School and The Bliss Electrical School of Takoma Park, MD. He was a Customer Engineer for IBM Corporation.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Philipsburg, where he was a Trustee, Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Philipsburg Rod & Gun Club, American Legion Post 68 of Locke Mills, Maine, and the Battle of Ormac Bay Association. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and served of the USS Moale.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 509 E. Presquisle St., Philipsburg, on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at 11 am with Rev. Jean Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. Friends will be received at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg, PA on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, from 7-9 pm.
