Philipsburg – William Hugh “Billy Buster” Adams, 82, of Philipsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2001 at the Presbyterian Home of Moshannon Valley, Philipsburg.
Born Dec. 8, 1918, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Jones) Adams of Philipsburg. He was a 1937 graduate of Philipsburg High School. He was an active member of 1st Presbyterian Church of Philipsburg. He was the creator of the 37 1/2 -foot tall Santa in Philipsburg which brought joy to young and old.
Mr. Adams had been employed by Philipsburg True Value in designing their Christmas trees and he had been employed as a manager of the Philipsburg American Legion during the 1960’s through the 1970’s.
His talents were enjoyed by many throughout his years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Adams, and a brother “Audie” Adams in addition to his parents. He was survived by a brother Robert (now deceased), and a sister Peggy Shoff and her husband Robert (both now deceased); three nieces, Jill (Shoff) Blake, Tina (Shoff) Askey and Margo (Adams) Muchinsky: a nephew Scott Shoff; three great nephews, Jason Shoff, Todd Askey and Trevor Askey; three great nieces, Casey (Blake) Marsh, Cristen Blake, and Marlee Muchinsky.
Interment is at Philipsburg Cemetery. With Rev, Joseph Tagliaferre officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Deacon William R. Walker.
