Emery Jasper Back was born on February 25, 1970, in Prestonsburg Kentucky, to Dorothy and Alfred Back. As the oldest of five siblings, he grew up in Salyersville, Kentucky, where he learned early the meaning of responsibility, loyalty and hard and honest work. These qualities became the foundation of the man he grew to be.
In 1990, Emery moved to Willard, Ohio, determined to build a better life. He began working at MTD Industries, where he dedicated twelve years of strong, reliable service. His work ethic and hands-on skill set led him to start his own company, Back's Roofing & Construction, in 2002. Over the years he expanded his business into demolitions for state and local jobs. Never afraid of a new chapter, Emery began driving semi-trucks in 2020, proving once again that he could take anything placed in front of him.
Emery's life changed forever in 1994 when he met Rita, the woman who would become his partner in every sense. At the time Rita had a daughter, Lauren Nicole and Emery loved her as his own from the very beginning. Emery never used the word "step." She was simple his.
After four years of dating, Emery and Rita were married on August 7, 1999, beginning a marriage on love, teamwork, and unwavering devotion. Together, they built not only a family but a future. Side by side, they grew a rental business across the surrounding areas-a true accomplishment that came from shared sacrifice, hard work, and a dream they chased together.
Their greatest blessing came with the birth of their children. On July 12, 2000, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Brianna Gayle Back, and on October 4, 2004, they welcomed their son, Aden Jasper Back, completing their family. Emery was a man who worked hard, but loved even harder. His children were his pride, and motivation, and the legacy he cherished the most.
Outside of work and family, he was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering for his team with unwavering loyalty every season. He also loved hunting, finding peace and joy in the woods. And some of the happiest moments were spent RVing with his family, traveling, exploring and creating memories together on the open road. Those trips were times of laughter, chaos, and memories.
He had his everyday joys, too- he loved playing the lottery, always hopeful for that lucky ticket, and he was never without his fine cut wintergreen skoal, a small comfort he enjoyed throughout the years. Emery also had a soft spot for the family dog, Louis, who brought him companionship, laughter a couple of bites, and countless moments of joy. Louis was always by Emery's side.
From Kentucky beginnings to Ohio achievements, from factory floors to owning multiple businesses, from long workdays to evenings surrounded by the family he adored-Emery lived a life filled with purpose. He was steady, loyal dependable, and strong. A man people could count on. A man whose presence left a lasting mark.
His story is one of love, grit, dedication, and devotion-a legacy carried on in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
