Obituary

Gunner Vincent Leatherwood was born 3/1/2001 and passed away suddenly on 4/9/2023 at age 22 of myocarditis while serving in the US Navy in San Diego, CA. 

Gunner grew up in Tenino, WA. He was a sweet boy who loved superheroes, graphic novels and drawing. Each year on his birthday, he and his mom would attend the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle. Gunner attended Tenino High School, graduating in 2019. He was the 2019's class speaker at graduation.  

After graduation, Gunner joined the US Navy where he served honorably and continued to develop his art. Gunner painted his art in various places he was stationed including the basic training unit flag, the advanced training barracks and the ship he was stationed on in Hawaii. Gunner was invited to attend the San Diego Comicon as an artist in 2022. Gunner was always drawing and was known for having a pen bag and a small pad handy at all times. 

Gunner was a loving son, brother, nephew and friend. He is deeply loved and missed. Gunner is survived by his mother Josie Bobbitt and stepfather John Bobbitt; father Ron Leatherwood and stepmother Amanda Leatherwood; brother Nick Leatherwood; sister Madison Leatherwood; grandfather Dan Egen; aunt Danni Friesner; and uncle Taylor Egen.
