Obituary

LAY, Michael D., 51 of Tampa, died June 29. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Michael lived most of his life in Tampa. Michael was a devoted husband, proud father, loyal brother and loving son. Raised to love the Lord, Michael was a faithful, life-long witness for Christ. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1982-1988 and was a manager for Verizon Communications for over 17 years. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Amy Crabill Lay, two sons Henry and Raymond Lay, and daughter Merritt Lay; mother Lona A. Lay of Tampa; father N. Leon (Reba) Lay of Wheatland, MO; three brothers Timothy (Tammy) Lay and Randall (Melinda) Lay of Tampa and Stephan (Andrea) Lay of Baltimore, MD; half-brother Matthew Lay of Port St. Lucie; two sisters Angela (Jean-Louis) Miranda of Tampa and Melissa (Jamey) Rawls of Land O' Lakes, two step-brothers Michael (Jill) Weems of Orlando and Clint Weems of Ft. Pierce; as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 6 at 7 pm at Grace Lutheran Church (Carrollwood), 3714 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. Private interment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater, FL.
