Obituary

Stephen Harry “Buck” Koptchak, Sr., 74, of Philipsburg, PA, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Penn Highlands Clearfield.

Born on October 20, 1951, in Philipsburg, PA, Stephen was the son of the late John & Alice (Kanour) Koptchak.

He was a Chester Hill Boro Councilman.

Stephen retired from Rushton Mining Co.

In addition to his parent, Stephen was preceded in death by a brother, Mitchell Koptchak; and a son-in-law, Steven Holencik.

He is survived by two daughters, Jane Ann Fischer & her husband Paul of Osceola Mills, PA, and Amber Holencik of Houtzdale, PA; two sons, Gregory Allen Koptchak of Curwensville, PA, and Stephen Harry Koptchak, Jr. & his wife Luz of Blackstone, VA; four sisters, Edna Jane Brown & her husband Scott of Boalsburg, PA, Julie Powell & her husband Andrew of Ramey, PA, Judy Bair & her husband Gene of Rebersburg, PA, and Joni Whitehead & her husband Timothy of Boalsburg, PA; two brothers, John K. Koptchak of Houtzdale, PA, and Rick L. Koptchak & his wife Debra of Osceola Mills, PA; ten grandchildren, Gregory Koptchak Jr., Elizabeth Koptchak, Alisha Lansberry, Sara Saxon, Carter Fischer, Emilee Holencik, Caitlyn Kanour, Stephen Stockwell, Jordan Stockwell, and Jason Koptchak; and five great-grandchildren, Hailee, Jacob, Colton, Nolan, and Wesson.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services, LLC, at 701 Lingle St. Osceola Mills, PA 16666. Rev. Bruniooge will officiate.

Interment will be at Centre Cemetery in Osceola Mills, PA.

The family will receive guests on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home.
