Jim's Navy Story

Jim enlisted in the US Navy and was part of the Commander Fleet Training Group. From 1966-1968, Jim served on a fletcher class destroyer, the USS Radford DD-446, which was located on the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. His rank was SM3 as a Signal Man 3. Besides patrol, they supported the Riverboats that came down the channels. As the war ended, Jim remained in the Naval Reserve until 1972. He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.
