Obituary

Mother Pauline Holt Gaddie, 86, entered into eternal rest at Unity (Parkridge) Hospital in Rochester, New York on November 28, 2009.

 

She was born on March 18, 1923 in Hart County, Kentucky. She was employed as a domestic engineer for various people in the Elizabethtown and Radcliff, Kentucky area until her health declined.

 

Mother received Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at an early age at Allen Seminary in Hardyville, Kentucky. She later in life joined Mount Gilboa Baptist Church in Canmer, Kentucky. According to the Church Covenant, upon moving to Elizabethtown, Kentucky she united with Embry Chapel AME Church, where she was a member of the Praying Mothers Ministry and then Aenon Baptist Church in Rochester, New York under the leadership of Reverend Dr. James L. Cherry, Sr. until her decent to her Heavenly Home with Jesus.

 

Mother was also affectionately called by her family and friends, Aunt Pauline and Miss Pauline. She lived for the Lord first and foremost, her family & friends second and then gardening, yard sales and flea markets.

 

Mother was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Anna Irene Drake; parents, John Holt and Dora B. Holt Williams; three husbands, Clemont M. Barbour, Sr, Vonley Walker and Leonard Gaddie; her only sister, Corrine Holt; six brothers, Walter, William, Richard, Robert, Leon & Elwood Holt; and a dear sister‐in‐law that was as close as a sister, Tabitha Pauline Barbour Holt.

 

She leaves to cherish fond memories to four daughters, Ruth Elaine Brooks Ward, Susie Walker (Shelby) Byrd, Linda Walker Davis & Loretta Taylor; two sons, Clemont M. Barbour, Jr. & Richard (Sharmaine) Barbour; nineteen grandchildren; a host of great & great‐great grandchildren; a special son‐in‐law & caregiver, Roosevelt Ward, Jr; special grandchildren who spent a lot of time with & shared a lot of love for their grandmother, Errol & Marshall Brooks, Bryce, Bria Pauline & Angel Byrd; Lawister Robinson, Cynthia (Eric) Rollins & Robert Taylor; three brothers, Edward, James & Junior Holt; godchild, Faye Harris; special nieces, Mary Trawick, Pam & Truletta Barbour Thomas; special friends, Dorothy Johnson, Minnie Williams, Magnolia Caudill, Margaret French & Kaye Headspeth.
