Obituary

Ezekiel Bear Downey-Dockery was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and a perfect Bear. To family and friends who knew him best, Zeke Bear will be remembered as a very exceptional child.

Zeke Bear was born on April 18, 2012 at 7:20 pm at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, North Carolina. He was the son of Tennille LeAnne Downey and Brian Dave Dockery. Zeke Bear grew up in Lake Wyile, South Carolina and Anchorage, Alaska.

Zeke Bear was raised the youngest of four. He had three older sisters, Isabelle and twin sisters Ava and Veloria. Zeke Bear was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences in the few years he was with us.

Zeke Bear passed away on March 21, 2014 at 12:05 pm at home in Wasilla, Alaska. He is survived by his parents Tennille and Brian, sisters, Isabelle, Ava and Veloria. Services were held at Saint Patrick's Parish in Anchorage, Alaska. Zeke Bear was laid to rest in Angelus Memorial Park, Anchorage, Alaska.

Simply stated, Zeke Bear was a good, kind and loving Bear. A child who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving child of God. A prophet son who was a vital part of everyone's life. Zeke Bear leaves behind him a legacy of smiles, laughter and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Ezekiel Bear Downey- Dockery for his calm personality.

Ezekiel Bear Downey-Dockery was born April 18, 2012 in Pineville, North Carolina to Tennille LeAnne Downey of Anchorage, Alaska and Brian Dave Dockery of Seminole, Oklahoma and called into Heaven on March 21, 2014 in Wasilla, Alaska. Zeke Bear was an adored son, brother, nephew, grandson, cousin and Bear.

Services were held at Saint Patrick’s Parish at 2111 Muldoon Rd, Anchorage, Alaska. Officiated by Fr Scott Medlock. The viewing was at 10:00AM, with services at 11:00AM and a potluck reception followed immediately.

He is survived by his parents, Brian and Tennille, and older sisters; Isabelle, Ava, and Veloria. His biological grandmother Esther Commack, biological uncle Arthur and wife Kathy Commack and their children. Biological aunt June Commack. His adopted grandfather Shield II and wife Emily Downey Jr., and their son Henry Foxglove-Downey. Adopted aunt Sheila and husband Jason Hill, and their children, Nickolas and Jacqueline. Adopted uncle Shield Downey III, and his children Imani, Tynyce, Keyonnie and Shield Downey IV. Grandmother Janet and husband Rick Strayhorn, Grandfather Mickey Dockery Sr., Uncle Mickey and wife Heather Dockery Jr. and their children Genesis, Merax, Marcie, Faith and Micah. Aunt Natasha and husband Tyler Parks and their children, Merina McHugh and Solomon. Along with many cousins and extended aunts and uncles.

Ezekiel is preceded in death by his biological great-grandparents James and Beulah Commack, grandmother, Jacqueline Downey of Mercer Island, Washington; Great-Grandparents Dr. Lloyd M. and Caroline Farner of Mercer Island, Washington; Shield and Gladys Downey Sr. of Ambler, Alaska; Great-Grantparents Gerald “Jake” and wife Homa Jean Dockery of Wewoka, Oklahoma and Great-Grandparents Dave and Ruth Wise-Walker of Bowlegs, Oklahoma.

Although Zeke Bears life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His calm personality and smiling face could melt the hearts of those around him and will remain forever imbedded in our memories.
